ANNUAL PICNIC WITH SI KAHN, SUNDAY, AUGUST 26th AT THE NEW CITY VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE CORPS.
Over 300 people were in attendance for our annual picnic that was rained out last year by Hurricane Irene. SI KAHN flew up from Charlotte, North Carolina to be our guest of honor. 19 performers (or groups of performers) paid homage to Si by singing one of his songs in addition to their own during each of their sets. Si himself performed a 30 minute solo set and moderated a full hour workshop on “Immigration and Labor”, as well as conducting a final sing-a-long that closed the afternoon. There were 6 hours of non-stop music at the main stage. In addition, there was a separate jam and song circle area led by Roger Sprung. Special kudos to MARA LEVINE for organizing and coordinating the entire performance schedule for the afternoon. The Borderline would like to thank our sponsors, ORANGE & ROCKLAND UTILITIES, STOP & SHOP SUPERMARKETS, COUNTRY DANCE & SONG SOCIETY, LECROY CORP, & CONAN CAR & LIMOUSINE SERVICE, for their generous financial support in making this event happen.
